12. Young Gamora

We already know some of Gamora's backstory: Thanos wiped out her entire race, the Zehoberi, and took her as his adopted daughter, where he trained her as an assassin and frequently pitted her against Nebula.

It looks like we're going to be exploring that further though, as we see the Mad Titan arriving to take a young Gamora for his own. We've also been told we'll be seeing more flashbacks of Thanos, so this past event must have a major impact on the story. That could mean Gamora, who knows Thanos as well as anyone and has an emotional connection to him, could be the key to defeating him. Of course, it could also mean that she dies.

What's interesting is that we haven't seen Nebula yet, who is a big part of stopping Thanos in the comics - that role could be getting passed to Gamora, but it's more likely being withheld for spoiler-y reasons.
