Avengers: Infinity War Will Only Be One Film, Not Two

Avengers 4 reverts to Untitled status for now...

As widely expected, Marvel have scrapped their plans to have the next two Avengers films both called Infinity War.

Disney confirmed yesterday that they are now only making one Infinity War film - still set for May 4th 2018 - but that the second planned movie has dropped the title and reverted to being called Untitled Avengers project. It will still come out on May 3rd 2019.

This follows on from the Russo brothers telling Uproxx that they were changing the titles and the idea of splitting one big film in half. It's a smart move, actually, and it makes it seem less like Disney and Marvel are simply doing it to double the box office.

Inevitably, talk will now turn to what the second film should be called. Personally, I'm hoping for Avengers Disassembled: there's no way it won't immediately still follow on from the Infinity War story given the proximity, and the plot will presumably be focused on the aftermath of Thanos' activity in the first film.

Perhaps he'll get his hand in the Infinity Gauntlet by the end of the first film, and the second will be about trying to rebuild and take him down?
