BAFTAs 2017: Predicting Every Winner

4. Best Film Not In The English Language

Son of Saul
Ad Vitam Distribution

Prediction: Son of Saul

The foreign language film category is always a weird one because nominees are often a year behind that of the Oscars due to later UK release dates.

While Toni Erdmann has been the critical favourite throughout 2016, Son of Saul won 2016's Best Foreign Film Oscar back in February, and as it only came out in the UK in April, it hasn't left voter consciousness yet.

Should It Win?: The delayed release is a bit frustrating as the rest of the world seemingly moved onto other films over the last 10 months, but Son of Saul is undeniably the best of the five nominated films (the others being Dheepan, Julieta and Mustang).
