BAFTAs 2018: 7 Ups & 6 Downs

The Rising Star BAFTA is the only award voted for by the British public, and so the winner has the potential to be pretty...suspect.

After all, previous winners have included the eyebrow-raising likes of Noel Clarke and Adam Deacon, alongside more deserving winners such as James McAvoy, Tom Hardy and John Boyega.

This year's category thankfully didn't feature any suspicious candidates, and the most deserving nominee ultimately won the gong, with Get Out's Daniel Kaluuya scooping the award, beating out Florence Pugh, Josh O'Connor, Tessa Thompson and Timothee Chalamet.

Kaluuya gave an incredibly charming, down-to-Earth speech, praising national arts funding and dedicating the award to his mother. Needless to say, his career seems set to skyrocket over the next few years, and rightly so.
