BAFTAs 2020: 10 Ups & 5 Downs
5. That INSANE Cirque Du Soleil Performance
This isn't the first year that the BAFTAs have included a high-wire performance from Cirque du Soleil, but while in typical years the performances have strained to feign relevance to the films in competition, this year's exhilarating routine was set to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," serving as a thrilling tribute to the late Judy Garland.
The performance, which largely consisted of a petite woman being thrown around the Royal Albert Hall stage by three men, was both exciting and terrifying, given the clearly minuscule margin for error every time she was launched into the air.
This was made further evident by the hilariously anxious reaction shots from the likes of Daisy Ridley and Olivia Colman, wincing in fear at every death-defying move.
