BAFTAs 2020: 10 Ups & 5 Downs

4. Parasite Wins Best Original Screenplay

One of the most satisfying wins of the night was Parasite scooping the Best Original Screenplay award, swatting away competition from Marriage Story, Booksmart, Knives Out, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Given that BAFTA could've just given Parasite its foregone Best Film Not in the English Language award, to see it also rewarded elsewhere in such a top-tier category was hugely refreshing.

Between this and the film's recent Writers Guild of America win for Best Original Screenplay, it's looking increasingly possible that the film could triumph at the Academy Awards over fellow frontrunners Marriage Story and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. What a sight that'd be.
