Sound of Metal continued to bolster its momentum in the technical categories heading towards the Oscars, scooping well-deserved wins for Best Editing and Best Sound, making it increasingly likely that it will repeat both awards at the Oscars in two weeks.

While it's a shame that the film isn't a more competitive contender in other categories at both the BAFTAs and Oscars, these achievements are still impressive for a film that premiered quietly at TIFF 2019 and sat on a studio shelf for well over a year before finally being released.

Given the film's exceptional technical precision and ground-breaking sound mix, it's great to see it being recognised so pervasively throughout awards season.
