BAFTAs 2021: 8 Ups & 7 Downs
5. Hussain Manawer's Awesome BAFTA Poem
One of the unexpected highlights of this year's show was a poem composed by Hussain Manawer to celebrate all 58 films nominated for BAFTAs this year.
The poem, "Moving Image," not only playfully worked the title of every film into its wordplay, but paid tribute to the crews who make filmmaking possible, while also noting the impact of the pandemic on the film industry.
Better still, Manawer's passionate recital was filmed on the lush grounds of Blenheim Palace, to add a touch of majesty to the presentation.
Of the several performance pieces featured during this year's show, this turned out to be the most evocative of the lot.
