Batgirl Movie: 10 Directors To Replace Joss Whedon
9. Desiree Akhavan
Iranian-American indie filmmaker Desiree Akhavan made a name for herself with her acclaimed 2014 debut Appropriate Behavior, which she followed up with The Miseducation of Cameron Post, which won Sundance's Grand Jury Prize for U.S. Drama earlier this year.
She's keenly focused on stories about young women struggling to find their way in the world, but her recent appearance in Mark Duplass' Creep 2 also suggests she doesn't see herself as "above" genre fare, so this could be a terrific fit.
How Likely Is It?: The main roadblock here is that Akhavan is a virtual unknown in mainstream movie circles, and Warner Bros. may want to secure a more a high-profile female filmmaker to score some easy headlines.
This could go either way, basically: she'd be a forward-thinking choice and there's a good chance she'd take the offer, but the risk-averse Warner Bros. might spring for a "safer" choice instead. 5/10
