Batgirl Movie: 10 Directors To Replace Joss Whedon
7. Niki Caro
Niki Caro has a long history directing stories about embattled women of all ages, and has enjoyed strong acclaim for her films Whale Rider (which scored Keisha Castle-Hughes a Best Actress Oscar nod at just 13 years of age) and North Country (which landed nominations for Charlize Theron and Frances McDormand).
More than anything, she's a fantastic actor's director, and for women in particular. Plus, with Caro set to become the fourth woman in history to direct a $100+ million movie with next year's live-action Mulan adaptation, she'll have more tentpole experience under her belt than most of her competition.
How Likely Is It?: Caro will be busy with Mulan until the end of 2019, which is a problem considering that Warner Bros. will probably want to find a replacement director relatively quickly to avoid the spread of further bad press.
It's difficult to imagine the field staying open for the better part of two years, so as great as this would be, it's pretty damn unlikely. 3/10
