Would any Batman-related list be complete without a mention of the Dark Knight's first big live-action outing?

The 1966 series, Batman, was a major breakthrough for superhero television, and helped to popularise the characters of Batman and Robin with fans outside of the comics. Probably didn't hurt either that the superbly campy main characters drove around in a VERY stylish number either.

In the 1960s, you'd absolutely look twice if you saw this car whooshing past you, and in the present day, you'd likely stare even longer. With its open-top casualness, eye-catching red trimmings and bat-like tailpieces, Adam West and Burt Ward were right at home in this majestic crime-fighting Lincoln Futura.

Sure, perhaps it's not enough to make their enemies tremble at the sight of it, but you can bet that when Batman and Robin show up in their faithful Batmobile, the baddies better be ready to be POW-ed, BAM'ed and THWACK-ed all over.
