3. Tumbler - Dark Knight Trilogy (2005-2012)

Unquestionably the most original of Batman's modes of transportation in film, the Tumbler is not even referred to as the Batmobile in the Dark Knight trilogy, which goes for something as close to realism as a comic book movie could possibly get.

But despite this, it's still got all the bells and whistles, and then some! As Lucius Fox describes, the vehicle was originally designed as a tool for building bridges across riverbanks, but when that failed, the project was shelved, and the six-wheeled tank was abandoned in Applied Sciences.

Course, then Bruce discovers it, and it's practically love at first sight. A quick coat of paint later, and the Dark Knight takes to the streets in amazingly bold and heroic style.

It's a shame this imposing Bat-bulldozer doesn't make it beyond halfway through The Dark Knight, even if it sort of lives on in the form of the Batpod. And the fact that Bane gets his hands on others of its model in the next film somewhat takes away from its uniqueness. Then again, he didn't have the good sense to paint them black, so...
