8. Batman: Gothic

No list of potential Batman movie narratives would be complete without a nod to Grant Morrison, and his supernaturally-tinged portrait of Mister Whisper, who picks off Gotham's villains and prompts the city's mobster's to bring Batman on board to take him down is one of his most intriguing in cinematic terms. The key thing here is that Gothic is all about atmosphere, and that is something that Affleck has quickly proven himself adept to in his filmography to date. Yes, it would be something of a departure to go with a supernatural, religiously themed storyline involving a walking demon and Satan, but if the comics have taught us anything about Batman, it's that his brand is not limited by genre, and it would be great to see someone brave enough to tackle a horror story for the character. Sadly, this one is probably the least likely of all on this list, but elements could be drawn upon - like Batman having to make an uneasy alliance with the mob, and the blurring of good and evil - to flesh out a script.
