The Batman: 10 Essential Stories For Affleck's 2019 Solo Movie
9. Hush
Hush is a rare classic in that it allows not only the introduction of a new villain, but also runs through a significant number of Batman's rogues gallery all at once, as well as further exploring his relationship with Catwoman, which was something fans responded well to in The Dark Knight Rises. Crucially, the iconic Hush arc would represent the right sort of scale and scope to justify bringing Batman back into a stand-alone movie, and would also be a significant enough ceremony to try and announce a new era for Batman post-Nolan. There's also an anchor in Bruce Wayne's past that explores Batman's background more - and which crucially could be hinted at in the Gotham TV show - and the great opportunity to see the Riddler, the biggest missing part of Nolan's trilogy. Affleck is the right director to take over from Nolan, and even with Dawn Of Justice and Justice League upcoming, he needs a story as grand as Hush to announce his tenure.
