Continuing the Joker theme, the Death Of The Family arc is probably the most famous recent storyline, which became a comic book event under the considerable influence of Scott Snyder. The arc would offer an instantly iconic opening sequence with the incarcerated Joker working with the Toymaker to remove his own face, and the storyline as a whole is a significant step up in the horror stakes in a way that completely fits with the ceremony of the Joker's return.
