The Batman: 10 Essential Stories For Affleck's 2019 Solo Movie

4. Death Of The Family

Continuing the Joker theme, the Death Of The Family arc is probably the most famous recent storyline, which became a comic book event under the considerable influence of Scott Snyder. The arc would offer an instantly iconic opening sequence with the incarcerated Joker working with the Toymaker to remove his own face, and the storyline as a whole is a significant step up in the horror stakes in a way that completely fits with the ceremony of the Joker's return. Since Affleck has already spoken about his desire to demarcate his Batman as an entirely different prospect, perhaps drawing influences from a different genre entirely would serve the purpose even more. The stakes would be incredibly high, and Death Of The Family is enough of a personal story to justify a stand-alone story after the Justice League movie, plus the chance to bring in Scott Snyder to help script would be a great thing indeed.
