Batman: Every Live-Action Robin Ranked From Worst To Best
4. Chris O'Donnell - Dick Grayson (Batman Forever/Batman & Robin)
"Chicks dig the car" - *sigh*
The infamous Schumacher era of Batman was enough to keep The Dark Knight down for nearly ten years, and that reputation for cringe and crappiness has not faded with age. On that spectrum of good to terrible, Chris O'Donnell's version of the (more of a man) Boy Wonder mostly slips by in the middle ground, as not too bad, but not great either.
There was a semblance of something good here, as O'Donnell's Robin at least worked alongside Batman and managed to be helpful. He could fight, he had a cooler set of costumes - if you ignore the nipples - and his revenge arc in Batman Forever, while cliched, at least gave him some motivation.
However, there were, naturally, many downsides as well. The biggest of these was that most of his dialogue devolved into petty squabbling and terrible jokes, which disrupted the small traces of good character work. Plus, O'Donnell's performance came across as whiny and obnoxious, despite being an adult, not a teenager.
Overall, the character was doomed from the start, as appearing in Batman Forever and Batman & Robin was a death knell for the Boy Wonder.
