6. Will Affleck Be A Long Term Batman?
When Ben Affleck was handed the keys to the Batmobile, it's fair to say that the reaction from the fans was largely negative. People pointed to his past failures (namely Daredevil anything with the word "Bennifer" attached) as reasons why he was not worthy of the mantle, and should go back to directing Oscar-winning films and playing Xbox with Matt Damon rather than besmirch their favorite superhero. Regardless of all the flak, though, Affleck has stayed on in the role. Most reports on the film have claimed that he will be playing an older, more grizzled version of Batman than we have seen in the past, providing a stark contrast to the fresh-faces of Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot. All this begs the question: if t is an older Batman that we are going to be seeing in his next film, how long does he plan on holding onto the role? There are a couple of possibilities here. We may see a Batman who is worn down, but then gets revitalised by his encounter with Superman and the other Justice League members and decides to continue his life of crime fighting. At 41 years of age Affleck is still young and fit enough to play Batman for a while yet, so this could certainly be an option. Alternatively, we may only see Affleck's older Batman in one or two films, and then have a younger character come in to take over from Bruce Wayne (eg: Damian Wayne, Terry McGinnis), giving us something that we havent seen in a Batman film yet. The third option would be re-booting Bruce Wayne with a new actor, but considering that DC/Warner Bros is currently in the process of creating new franchises for most of its characters this seems unlikely.
