Batman: Gotham By Gaslight Review - 5 Ups & 5 Downs

2. There's A Pointless Musical Interlude

Batman Gotham By Gaslight Selina Kyle

Perhaps the most aggravating and baffling trope in these movies is the abundance of pointless musical numbers, and Gotham by Gaslight contributes its own gratuitous sing-song to the mix as Selina Kyle performs a campy routine...for some reason.

Granted, it only lasts around 90 seconds, but it's neither a good, catchy song nor remotely compelling visually, so just feels like a waste of time in a movie that's clocking in at an incredibly svelte 78 minutes already.

Who are these scenes for? Does anyone really enjoy them? They're mind-boggling inclusions that almost always clash harshly with the tone of the rest of the movie. This one isn't an exception in that regard.
