Batman Movie Villains: 7 Perfect Performances & 7 That Sucked

3. Two-Face - Tommy Lee Jones (Batman Forever)

Two Face
WB Studios

The casting of Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face for Batman Forever should have been brilliant. This was was another Proper Actor in the vein of Jack Nicholson hired to further elevate the material.

Sadly, the comparison to Nicholson is all-too pertinent, because Joel Schumacher approached his manifesto of changing Tim Burton's legacy by stealing from it liberally. Jones effectively spends the entire movie not so much adapting Two Face from the comics, but mimicking Nicholson's Joker in a different costume. It's not right and it's not okay.

It says something when Jim Carrey - who had a particularly hairy time working with Jones - comes off as the more level-headed performance alongside him.
