Batman Ninja Review: 5 Ups & 4 Downs
3. It's Kind Of A Mess
For as entertaining as this movie can be, it's also at its core a jumbled explosion of ideas that are carelessly thrown at the screen and formed into a shapeless mess of an adventure.
This is a film that forgets basic storytelling concepts, like building a consistent tone or sense of pace: it feels like not a single pitched ideas was rejected, and practically everything Nakashima came up with was greenlit without a second thought.
As a result, Batman Ninja can feel a tad on the exhausting side at times. Nobody could call it slow-moving or meandering, but at the same time, it rarely stops for even a moment's breather, and to that end feels rather hurriedly slapped together.
It's a "see what sticks" approach that works often, but not always. More than anything, there's only the most minimal effort made to tie the movie's many crazy concepts into a coherent whole.
