When Batman: The Killing Joke released over the summer, one of the most frequent complaints was that it looked crudely animated on the cheap, likely a result of the movie being given an R-rating and cutting into its commercial viability.

Well, Return of the Caped Crusaders brings Batman back to PG territory, which also means an upswing back to the strong visuals fans of Warner Bros' animated Batman movies have come to expect.

This film feels extra special from a visual perspective because it's recalling a five-decades-old TV show, but does a fantastic job updating the source material with flashy, contemporary animation that's slick and dynamic. Bravo.
