Batman V Superman: 10 Best Moments

8. Batman's Knightmare

It may not have been integrated into the movie particularly seamlessly, but Bruce Wayne's "Knightmare" dream or premonition was certainly one of the most ambitious sequences in the movie. Bruce, in a distinctive, new Batsuit, emerges to observe a war-torn landscape as Darkseid's Omega sigil can be seen burned into the ground before him. Batman then meets up with a group who claim to have some Kryptonite, but it turns out to be a trap, and soldiers bearing Superman insignias start attacking Bruce and his men. A fight breaks out (transpiring in one silky smooth long take) ending with Bruce being knocked out by a Parademon. He then wakes up in chains, as Superman arrives, melts a few of his lieutenants with his heat vision, blames Bruce for something that happened to Lois, and then appears to rip his heart out, as Bruce finally wakes up. It's an extremely imaginative and fairly disturbing scene (especially for a PG-13 movie), which while arguably unnecessary, at least boasts some of the best visuals in the film. Plus, if this is the sort of look we can expect for Darkseid's reign of terror in Justice League, and there's the possibility of Darkseid even turning Superman bad, then there's plenty to be excited for.
