Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released to mostly negative reviews in 2016, but Zack Snyder's DC Comics adaptation has still developed a devoted fan following. The "Ultimate Cut" of the film received a much better response, however, and made it clear that Snyder is a filmmaker who needs to a lengthy runtime to tell the sort of ambitious stories he dreams up for these heroes.

The filmmaker's time in the DC Extended Universe may have come to an end after Justice League (#ReleaseTheSnyderCut!), but he hosted a live commentary for the extended version of Batman v Superman yesterday on Vero, and revealed plenty of huge new details in the process.

Snyder had an ambitious plan for a four movie series which was meant to culminate in Justice League: Part 2, and as well as dropping some hints about what was supposed to come next, he also pulled back the curtain on unanswered questions we've had since 2016. Those include some controversial story decisions, baffling sequences (Knightmare, for example), and huge twists we didn't even know about!

Batman v Superman will likely remain divisive, but it's also a film which continues to generate discussion, and that's guaranteed to continue after this latest round of reveals...

10. Batman May Not Be A Killer After All

Batman v Superman came under fire for its portrayal of the Caped Crusader, especially as the "hero" (that's certainly not how some fans perceived him) seemingly killed Gotham City's criminals on a whim. The comic book version of the character has a strict no-kill rule, so Snyder's decision to take him down a much darker route led to a sizeable amount of backlash.

Well, during a tongue in cheek reference to that, Snyder insisted that the people Batman blew up during that early Batmobile chase are definitely still alive...er, honest!

"This is an example of the Batmobile’s armaments and its weapons. I’m sure these guys are fine," the filmmaker teased. "They’re going to be 100 percent okay, they’re not going to be dead. Those guys in the car there, they’re 100% fine. We should have done like an A-Team shot of them by the road getting up like, 'Ugh, that hurt.' But they’re fine. Just for the PG-13 of it all."

Snyder might be poking fun at the reaction to this and the impressive warehouse scene, but those of you who would rather not think of Batman as some sort of unhinged killer can at least take solace in the fact those thugs are still alive and well. Probably.
