Batman V Superman: 10 Reasons It's Not As Bad As The Critics Are Saying
2. It's Better Than Man Of Steel
That's right: Batman v Superman, despite its muddled plot and questionable narrative approach, is still a more watchable movie than its predecessor, Man of Steel.
Man of Steel had a questionable structure that was just as messy as the one glimpsed in Batman v Superman; the film went back and forth in time on a whim, which made it hard to get truly invested in the story or care about the characters, whilst the drab aesthetics and the lacking pace made it plainly tiresome to sit through. And then in the middle of it all, you had Zack Snyder's moody take on Superman - a real bummer. The film induced sleep.
Consider that Batman v Superman - at the very least - has a fantastic, seething performance from Ben Affleck at its core, who renders Bruce Wayne as a real and fallible human being, which gives you reason to actually invest in his story.
Even when you consider each movie's own flaws, Batman v Superman still wins out as a motion picture (and as an entertainment) because Man of Steels flaws are what make it boring; Batman v Superman's flaws, bizarre as some of them are, actually make the movie more interesting - as a superhero picture, as a failed experiment, as a cultural product.
