Batman V Superman: 10 Reasons Man Of Steel Is Better
10. It Functions Properly As A Standalone Movie
Though Man of Steel was always developed with a franchise in mind at the very least, it only had to carry the burden of setting up Man of Steel 2, as was originally planned until Batman v Superman came into fruition.
Batman v Superman, on the other hand, was tailor-made to serve Warner Bros' interest in establishing a wider, Marvel-esque universe, namely introducing the key Justice League players such as Wonder Woman, Cyborg, The Flash and Aquaman.
Though most seem to agree that Wonder Woman and The Flash got interesting (if brief) moments in BvS, overall the nods towards Justice League Part One felt shoehorned and lazy, amounting to Wonder Woman watching a few videos on a laptop and diving into the final battle out of nowhere.
Had Batman v Superman been a straight-up versus movie without any other baggage, it unquestionably would have functioned better overall, yet instead it feels weighed down by all this responsibility it apparently owes to the bigger picture.
