Batman V Superman: 10 Reasons Man Of Steel Is Better
9. Character Motivations Are Much More Believable
Any good movie needs characters with clear motivations, and though it's far from perfect, Man of Steel seemed pretty clear in this regard. We've got a father wanting to do the best for his son in Jonathan Kent, a hero unsure of his place in the world, a villain who yearns to preserve what remains of his culture, and the panicking military stuck in the middle. Nothing in the movie seems overwhelmingly out of character and has a clear A-to-B-to-C reason for happening.
Batman v Superman? Not so much. Where to begin? Lex Luthor's reasoning for orchestrating the titular fight is flimsy at best (possibly relating to his own abusive father), Superman is easily duped into a fight by a basic kidnapping plot, and the pair could easily have avoided a fight entirely if they just talked for a few seconds.
Basically, the entire battle around which the movie is apparently focused is predicated on ropey logic, which depending on your (in)tolerance for lazy writing could very well sink the entire endeavour. It's all the more depressing when you consider that Oscar-winner Chris Terrio (Argo) helped write the BvS script.
