Alternatively, theres also speculation afoot that Lex Luthor Snr isnt as dead as the world seems to think. That unexpected death in the year 2000 could have been a cover up, as Lex Snr sought a way to get under the radar for reasons unknown. Perhaps theres a bigger legacy of the Luthors arc underway here, that hasnt been revealed yet. Maybe Lex Snr left Lex Jnr in charge while he worked on a shady evil project in seclusion somewhere. Exactly what this project would be remains to be seen, but perhaps it has something to do with those meteors that Luthor Snr collected. Maybe, as they both seem obsessed with aliens, the Luthors are cooking up a scheme thatll see them using other worldly artefacts and alien assistance to achieve something big. Lex Luthor Snr has been President of the United States in the comics before. Maybe the DC Extended Universe is headed that way. Either way, the idea of the classic-style older Lex returning to the screen at some point is tantalising proposition. Unless we see an open casket funeral in a flashback at some stage, don't rule it out, either in Batman V Superman or a future DC movie.
