Batman V Superman: 12 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered

9. Was The Knightmare Sequence A Dream Or A Premonition?

The Question: One of the movie's most bizarre sequences is the "Knightmare" scene in which Bruce dreams that he is attacked by a fleet of Superman's mercenaries, all while some winged creatures known as Parademons fly overhead. Batman uses a gun to kill many of the men but ends up captured by Superman, who has a vendetta against him for something that happened to Lois, and promptly kills him just as he wakes up. However, was this merely a surreal nightmare, or something more telling for the future, considering the appearance of The Flash moments later? The Likely Answer: It'll probably be kept ambiguous until a pivotal moment, though it could fit easily into The Flash's warning, especially as Darkseid's Omega sigil can briefly be seen during the sequence and he's heavily teased to appear in Justice League at the end of this movie. Could Darkseid end up corrupting Superman and making him "evil", hence the mercenaries and Parademons? Hopefully we'd get some sort of subversion of this scene rather than a verbatim copy, or Justice League's plot could center around preventing the scenario entirely. We'll go with a premonition, albeit one that can change.
