Batman V Superman: 12 Early Reactions You Need To Know

7. It's One Of The Best-Looking Superhero Movies

This was relatively obvious from the trailers, but it's nice to have confirmation that, for all of the film's faults, Batman v Superman is one gorgeous-looking spectacle. Rolling Stone said of Zack Snyder's work that he "can't touch Christopher Nolan's artistry in the Dark Knight trilogy, but he's still a hell of a showman", while Forbes called it "one of the most visually beautiful comic book movies you have ever seen", and even having no problem with cinematographer Larry Fong picking up an Oscar win for his work here. The compliments for the style continue: "Snyder's an accomplished stylist who can at least make the dumbest movies justify their heft" (Indiewire), "at least his movies always look like a billion bucks" (Entertainment Weekly), and that the film is "too competently made to be anywhere near the disaster its haters have predicted" (IGN). In terms of hitting his base targets, "if all you want to see is a bunch of superheroes punching each other and blowing stuff up, you€™ll probably enjoy what Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has to offer" (Crave Online), while Forbes pragmatically added that the set-pieces "aren€™t as clean and as comprehensible as Man of Steel€™s daylight smack downs."
