Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice - 10 Things You Need To Know

9. It Ties Into Man Of Steel In A Very Obvious Way

Batman and Superman have come to blows in the comic books plenty of times over the years, but finding a good reason for them to go to war on the big screen was no doubt a challenge for Snyder and screenwriter Chris Terrio. Luckily they found a pretty solid justification, something which became apparent from the trailer. Batman views Superman as a danger to humanity, and despite protests from Alfred, he seems determined to take him down immediately rather than waiting and seeing if he's really on Earth to do good. A Wayne Industries building being destroyed and the hundreds (thousands?) of employees who died while trapped inside obviously gives Bruce Wayne some motivation to take Metropolis' new hero down too, but this fairly obvious tie-in to Man of Steel is actually cleverer than it initially appears. One clever fan actually tracked the movement of the heat vision which can be seen exploding out of the side of the building to a specific scene in Man of Steel, revealing that it was actually General Zod who was responsible for its collapse. While that obviously doesn't fully take the blame off Superman's shoulders, it at least serves as proof that the Caped Crusader may be overreacting by targeting him so soon and is a very nice bit of continuity from Snyder.
