10. Metropolis And Gotham City Are Neighbours
Unlike the Marvel Universe, the DC Comics Universe features a number of fictional American cities. Metropolis and Gotham City are among those, and in the comics, they've always been portrayed as being a fair distance away from each other. However, Zack Snyder revealed at this year's Comic-Con that he's made the potentially controversial decision to make the cities neighbours. In the DC Cinematic Universe, Metropolis and Gotham will be literally right next to each other, and like Oakland and San Francisco, they're sister cities separated only by a sizeable bay. No doubt one of the main reasons for that is because it makes it much simpler to explain how Batman so quickly get to Metropolis, and why Superman might involve himself in the affairs of the "Bat-vigilante" in Gotham. Talking at Comic-Con, Snyder explained that he views Metropolis as a successful and wealthy city, while Gotham is where the "downtrodden" people live. "Gotham people take the ferry to Metropolis," he added, "and theres this idea of wealth and power, power engenders fear, which made it feel real and smart." That's an interesting justification for this change, and the contrast between the two cities despite them being so close should be interesting to see explored in this movie.
