9. In Gotham, Batman Begins To Grow Despondent With Superman's Level Of Influence; Superman Rescues Lois Lane From The Middle-East, Spurring Conflict

In Gotham, Bruce Wayne's tolerance of Superman's positioning as a "US Weapon" is growing thin, and the caped crusader - between night shifts - has grown despondent with the alien creature. Alongside his faithful butler Alfred, Bruce realises that Superman's continued inhabitance of Earth could cause major problems in the long run. "The rest of the world is anxious," he might tell his faithful butler Alfred here. "And bad things happen when people get anxious." Meanwhile, Lois Lane - on an investigative assignment in the Middle East - gets into trouble with an armed terrorist group, and Superman is forced to cross the Atlantic in a bid to get her out. This triggers a major international incident of the highest order, as the resulting conflict results in lots of civilian causalities; several countries rally together in a bid to confront the US regarding its use of Superman as a tool for generating fear. Bruce Wayne decides that he must act.
