Incapacitated and unable to gather his strength, Superman is imprisoned in a cell that has been enforced with a Kryptonite barrier, making escape impossible. Luthor explains to Batman that he plans to keep Superman contained for eternity as something akin to a showpiece - a symbol of Earth's victory against invading alien forces. Before leaving LexCorp for Gotham City, Batman stumbles upon weird information outlining something called "the Doomsday project." Meanwhile, the world soon realises that Superman is missing. "Where is Superman?" banners, adverts and YouTube videos begin to circulate all over the globe. The US government grows nervous - with Superman gone, they appear to have lost their greatest asset. Confused and concerned, Lois Lane travels to Gotham to speak with Bruce Wayne after discovering that Superman - amidst his own investigative research - has uncovered the Dark Knight's secret identity.
