3. Luthor Reveals That He Orchestrated The Incident In The Middle East; Doomsday Is Unleashed

As Batman and Superman consider what to do next, Luthor reveals himself via video monitor and discloses the nature of his master plan. Doomsday, he reveals, has been genetically-engineered as a means of protection for planet Earth; unable to trust Superman, an alien, Luthor believes that his own creation - superior to Superman in every possible way - will provide the nations of Earth with a guaranteed means of protection against any unwanted, invading forces of evil. Luthor also reveals that he engineered the incident with Lois Lane in the Middle East in order to gain Batman as an ally. The pair try to convince Luthor, but he believes that Superman must be eradicated for the good of mankind. Luthor expresses his disappointment in Batman, and offers up his regrets surrounding the fact that he has been left with no choice but to kill the Dark Knight too. To our heroes' dismay, Doomsday - a monstrous, colossal beast - is unleashed.
