Batman V Superman: Ranking The Characters By Anticipation

3. Superman

Perhaps the most exciting thing about seeing Superman again - aside from the fact he and Batman will be sharing the big screen for the first time in history - is that the film can dive even deeper into him as a character still finding himself in a world suddenly much larger than he likely expected. He'll be pulled in all different directions as he continues to shape the moral compass that has helped him stick out from some of his fellow allies over the decades, experiencing the entire spectrum of hatred and worship the world over in the wake of his first outing. With his conflict with Batman, the interference of the government, and the varied global opinions about him all rising from the ashes of a destroyed Metropolis, the film has the chance to really push the character to the edge, forcing him to challenge himself and whether it's worth protecting a world divided on him even being there. Obviously, no one's expecting Superman to up and leave or go ballistic, but if the film can really go all-in on exploring him - especially in contrast to Batman - then it can carry far more weight when he comes out the other end of the film worthy of leading the Justice League.
