The AMC Theaters website has been updated to reflect what looks to be the official runtime of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. For those interested to know, it's clocking in at a hefty 2 hours and 31 minutes. Considering how much ground there is to cover in this movie - re-introducing Superman, setting up Batfleck, building up to the fight, the inevitable team-up against Lex, Wonder Woman appearing on the scene, not to mention the arrival of Doomsday and a rumoured third villain (phew!) - it's no surprise that the film would carry such a lengthy running time. I've always been of the opinion that considering we wait for so long between these movies - they take two years to create, after all - why not expand the runtime? Why not get the most out of any one visit to the DC universe, or Marvel's, on the other side of the fence? It's even easy to argue that there's never been a blockbuster that suffered horrendously because it was too long a film. Take a look at The Wolf of Wall Street; that film made back 4 x its budget, and it was a whopping three hours long. Don't underestimate an audience's ability to sit through a good film, Hollywood! Kudos to Warner Bros. for leading the charge. The more time we get in this big screen DCU, the better.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is released on 25th March.
