Batman vs Superman: 10 Casting Choices They Must Make

4. Chris Cooper Is Comissioner Gordon

Chris-Cooper-600x300 Second to recasting the Alfred role, this has to be the toughest character to replace, because Gary Oldman made the character so distinctly his own, such that it's difficult to really picture anyone else playing it. Still, it's important to remember that Chris Cooper was, in fact, Christopher Nolan's first choice for the character, yet he turned down the role because he didn't think it substantial enough for the amount of time it required him to be away from home. Though Cooper is best-known for playing uptight, badass roles, the Oscar-winning actor could no doubt show off some versatility play a character as uncompromisingly good and heroic as Gordon. He's the perfect age, he's got a distinctive voice that would help differentiate him from Oldman; just grow a moustache, slap some glasses on him, and you've got a pretty damn good Jim Gordon overnight. However, his involvement with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - playing Norman Osborn - may prevent this from happening, even if Cooper was happy with the script this time.
