Batman Vs Superman: 10 Superior Actors Who Should Have Been Lex Luthor

7. Ben Foster

In a straight fight with Superman, Lex Luthor gets pounded into the ground, stomped on, scraped up and moulded into a rather fetching sculpture of a beautiful horse. Or in other word, there is just no contest. But he's pretty much undeterred. It takes a certain level of lunatic to look at the most powerful being on the planet and decide to start a fight, and Ben Foster has that look about him. There is a wild energy in his eyes, a burning fire, that says "you better put me down for good, otherwise I'm going to keep coming at you." In Alpha Dog Foster plays Jake Mazursky, a man on the edge of a psychotic break-down, and the power of the performance comes thanks to how well Foster seems to have truly lost the plot during the film; it's a performance that drags you in completely. His character has no idea when the odds are stacked against him, and is willing to go down swinging, with not a care in the world for his own well being, which would make a fascinating Lex Luthor. That would also be a completely different Luthor to what we've seen before, and though there might not be the usual poise you might expect from the character, there would certainly be impact. Stand Out Moment: The fight scene at the party in Alpha Dog shows Foster at his best, a crazy whirlwind of action and anger. It also shows that he can handle a fight scene brilliantly, as well as moving and heavy dramatic work.
