Batman Vs Superman: 10 Superior Actors Who Should Have Been Lex Luthor
4. Mads Mikkelsen
Mads Mikkelsen has stepped into the shoes of one of cinemas most notorious villains recently as Hannibal Lecter. This isn't Mikkelsen's first brush with the dark side of cinema and television, far from it in fact, as he perhaps came to most people's attention in 2006 when he snagged the role of Le Chiffre in Casino Royale, the James bond reboot. When speaking about his role in Hannibal he was quoted as saying "...I think he is as close as you can come to the devil, in the sense that the devil has no reasons," which clearly would be a fascinating take on the Lex Luthor character. A Lex Luthor who claims power and wants destruction just for sake of it would be an interesting foil for Superman, like a megalomaniac toddler destroying his Lego city. Stand Out Moment: The final poker scene in Casino Royale shows Le Chiffre, and of course Mads Mikkelsen at his very best. The game is tense and unnerving, and Mikkelsen plays the part of a classic Bond villain to perfection, with barely noticeable ticks and facial twitches that show a perfect level of irritation and anger while keeping a cool head. It is that sort of nuanced physical performance that makes the actor such a strong villain.
