Batman Vs Superman: 10 Superior Actors Who Should Have Been Lex Luthor

5. Mark Strong

Mark Strong is clearly evil, and there's very little sense in denying it. His harsh eyes and strong brow have made him a natural villain, which is probably why he has joined the long list of English actors who are regularly cast as villains. In a recent advertisement for Jaguar cars Mark Strong, Tom Hiddleston and Ben Kingsley all extol the virtues of British actors playing villains, and to be honest, Lex Luthor is a classic villain worthy of Strong's appearance and experience. Mark Strong is not here because he bears a physical resemblance to the fictional character of Lex Luthor: yes, he is evil looking, and yes, he is bald, but Strong is more than just an evil face, he is a terrific and classically trained actor. He brings a natural gravity to proceedings. His performances can be evil without being over the top or cartoonish. Stand Out Moment: In Guy Ritchie's 2009 Sherlock Holmes film Strong, as Lord Blackwood, sits in Pentonville prison, about to be executed, and his delivery and back and forth with Downey Jr. is perfectly delivered. The scene is a perfect example of the classic inter-play between heroes and villains in cinema.
