Batman Vs Superman: 10 Superior Actors Who Should Have Been Lex Luthor
3. Neal McDonough
Neal McDonough has arguably the most incredible eyes in cinema, and the result is that - combined with performance - it feels like the Band Of Brothers star pierces through his co-stars, examining their very soul while passing judgement. When McDonough is allowed to sally forth and let rip in a role he is the epitome of captivating, and with his ice blue eyes and sinister smile he has played the grinning villain on numerous occasions, with added success coming from the jarring contradiction of his almost cherubic good looks and how he is written. Perhaps his best performance as the personification of villainy was in FX's Justified, in which he played the drug snorting, double crossing sadist Robert Quarles, and seamlessly changed between charming mobster and wild eyed killer. This type of performance would be perfect for a Lex Luthor who is the head of a multi-national company, as well as a deeply dark figure: one second charming investors and shareholders, while in the next second he is secretly trying to take down an entire nation. Stand Out Moment: In season 3 of Justified (episode Guy Walks Into Bar) Neal McDonough shows the fullness of his evil intimidation; he approaches Raylan Givens and gives him an ultimatum. McDonough is perfect in this scene, smiling wildly while being incredibly scary, and his delivery of the line "I'm going to kill you Raylan. Maybe not tonight, maybe not tomorrow, but someday..." is just ludicrously good.
