16. Will Clark And Lex Begin As Friends?

Considering what we know so far and the amount of characters playing potential roles in the film, there's not going to be lot of time to deal with a budding friendship that eventually spawns into a bitter rivalry. The focus is on Batman and Superman (and possibly Wonder Woman) and their opposition to, at first, one another and later to, potentially, Luthor. Classically, Lex hates Superman. Even with what we already know, he destroyed his city and a lot of what he worked hard to build. Lex is a numbers kind of guy and every life lost, every building toppled, every car or truck destroyed is a loss in profit. We're dealing more and more in a Universe designed by Goyer, Nolan, and Snyder to surround impossibilities with probable cause. Case in point: Lois learning of Superman's identity by using a little journalist skills - she's clearly no idiot, and neither is the rest of the world, and certainly not Lex Luthor. That's not to say it can't happen; there's always probable cause for the two to begin as chummy rivals, but we don't know Lex's primary focus yet, though we might speculate that he'll want to be on making up for his losses, which of course are Superman's fault.
