Batman vs. Superman: 8 Actors Who Could Play The Riddler
6. James Badge Dale
Sure, you might be asking yourself "Does his role in Iron Man 3 place him outside of this equation?" Or even perhaps, "James Badge Who?" (though the latter is much less likely following some break out supporting roles in the past few years). But being in a previous comic book film can actually work in the actor's favour because it never hurts to have comic book film experience on the CV (see Chris Evans,) and it is the more obscure but brilliant actors like James Badge Dale who can pull off Riddler's genius deductive reasoning out of nowhere and with one glare. While he commanded every single scene of his in Iron Man 3 (a mandatory qualification for any potential Riddler), Dale isn't here because of that role specifically. He played the no-bullsh*tting action badass quite well in stuff like World War Z and TV's 24, but it's his film-stealing scene as a cancer patient (literally, Gaunt Young Man) in Flight that shows exactly why he would translate perfectly into a chilling and super intense Edward Nygma, the likes of which we've never seen before on film. When he says "People are either drawn to me, or they pretend like they can't see me... it's a trip" just change "trip" with "trick", give the man a green suit and it would be like two pieces of the same jigsaw puzzle, fitting perfectly and sending chills down your spine.
