Batman Vs Superman: 9 Things You Need To Know About Jena Malone's Robin
7. Her Hair
Jena Malone appearing on the set of the Batman v Superman was Strike One, but it could be explained. She's worked with Zack Snyder before, on Suckerpunch, and it's possible that she was just visiting him as a friend. The news being leaked so soon after her appearance that there was going to be a female Robin was Strike Two, but again, it's only the word of an extra, perhaps he assumed too much or was misinformed, or perhaps it's nothing to do with her. Malone's hair was Strike Three. She appeared in public with her hair cut short and dyed ginger. Again, considering how much the film is taking inspiration from Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns, this was the final conclusive proof for many fans that Malone will be playing Carrie Kelly, as, in the source comic, the character sports short ginger hair. Of course, what fans have overlooked is that, in the comics, Kelly was thirteen and Malone is twenty-nine, so similarities between the film and the graphic novel are bound to be somewhat sketchy. While Jena's red crop would certainly be in-keeping with the traditional, iconic look of Miller's female Robin, let's not forget that Carrie Kelly is far from the only redheaded character in Batman's canon.
