Batman vs Superman Movie: 10 Cameos We Hope To See

4. Commissioner Gordon

One of the absolute best characters in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy was Jim Gordon, played in easily his best on-screen interpretation by Gary Oldman, who sadly confirmed recently that he likely wouldn't be returning to the part for Batman vs. Superman. Whether this means that the character won't be appearing in the movie or Oldman simply hasn't been approached for the part remains to be seen, but given that Alfred ended up being recast, it's possible that Snyder and co. simply want to place their own stamp on the beloved character. After all, a Batman movie without Gordon just seems like a weird prospect considering how instrumental he was in Nolan's movies, though whether the movie is mainly set in Metropolis or Gotham will likely determine the size (if at all) of his role. The Cameo: Making the fair assumption that the movie will be set more in Metropolis than Gotham due to it following Man of Steel and featuring Lex Luthor as a villain, perhaps we'd see Gordon in an establishing scene as Bruce picks up the cape and cowl again. Maybe he and Gordon can have a discussion about Superman and how much more of a threat he can (potentially) be compared to everything Bats has faced before? As for casting, that's a little trickier: after Oldman's splendid work in the role, it's going to be a pretty thankless task.
