5. There Will Be Football (Again)

Hardly a major plot point - or so you'd imagine since Nolan used a Gotham Knights football match for a key set-piece in The Dark Knight Rises - but it's a nice nod to the rivalry of Metropolis and Gotham to have their university teams face off on the pitch. Interestingly, this scene was apparently up for the chop before it was even filmed: the initial casting call for Extras was put on hold until further notice as Snyder was apparently seriously considering removing it from David S Goyer's screenplay. So, that would suggest it's not particularly important, but the change of heart on it would also suggest that it's a key part of developing the central conflict. Or at least that it looks good.
