You'd be forgiven for thinking that Disney's decision to release in mid-March hints at a lack of confidence, but as Deadpool proved this year, if the film is good enough, the release date doesn't actually matter.

Plus, looking at everything else that's coming out around the March 17th release date, Disney have made a very smart decision. Aside from the Wolverine threequel (whose R rating makes it not a direct competitor) and perhaps Kong: Skull Island, there's actually very little that Beauty And The Beast will have to share potential audience with.

It could thus take the lion's share (or the Beast's share) of the available March pot, which could mean a result closer to the exalted billion dollar level.
