Beauty And The Beast Remake: 18 Major Changes Disney Made
3. The Enchantment And The Enchantress
In The Original
In the cartoon version, the curse states that the Prince will remain a Beast if it hasn't been broken by true requited love by the time the last petal falls on his 21st birthday.
The Enchantress only appears in the prologue, establishing that the Prince was a horrible person and seemingly confirming that she travels around giving people extreme attitude adjustments if she doesn't like their behaviour.
In The Remake
The enchantment is much more harsh: with every petal that falls from the rose, the castle becomes more dilapidated, reflecting Beast's increasingly lost humanity. And even worse, every fallen petal makes Beast more beastly, and the curse states that he will turn into an animal completely if he hasn't broken it before his birthday.
Not only that, but the enchanted servants who were cursed alongside him will permanently transform into inanimate objects if the curse isn't broken, which is pretty excessive, really.
