20 Greatest Horror Movie Deaths Of The 2020s (So Far)
14. Emily Kass - The Invisible Man
Leigh Whannell's The Invisible Man was a hugely pleasant surprise for the most part, and that restaurant scene does a fantastic job of catching the audience off-guard.
When protagonist Cecilia (Elisabeth Moss) meets up with her sister Emily (Harriet Dyer) to explain that her abusive ex Adrian (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) is using an optical suit to fake his death, Adrian suddenly rocks up at the place and wreaks invisible havoc.
Within a moment, Emily's throat is suddenly slit by a knife out of nowhere, before the knife is thrust into Emily's hand by Adrian, making it look like she committed the murder herself.
Now, even accepting the implausibility of the knife being shoved into Cecilia's hand and the likelihood that the restaurant's surveillance cameras would've captured the incident, it's horrible seeing Cecilia's innocent, well-meaning sister die such an unforgivably gnarly death.
That the world consequently believes that Cecilia murdered her own sister for a good while, before she's later exonerated, makes it even worse.
