20 Greatest Horror Movie Endings of the 2020s (So Far)
16. Send Help
Sam Raimi's Send Help is a sick puppy of a movie with an ending that's nothing if not fittingly savage.
After Linda (Rachel McAdams) and her dickhead boss Bradley (Dylan O'Brien) spend the movie at war with one another while stranded on a desert island following a plane crash, they end up fighting to the literal death in the film's climax.
Linda ultimately manages to overpower Bradley and beat him to death with a golf club, just as Raimi smash-cuts to an epilogue set one year later, where Linda has now become a beloved celebrity as a result of being the apparent sole survivor of the plane crash.
At a celebrity golf tournament, Linda promotes a film adaptation of her best-selling memoir and announces her intention to write a self-help book, while saying, "No help is coming, so you'd better start saving yourself."
What a brilliantly, unapologetically mean note on which to end the film, leaving audiences to debate precisely who the hero and villain of the movie really was.
